Google launches its new mid-range smartphone with Pixel 10a

Google has officially unveiled the Pixel 10a, the newest and most value-packed member of the Pixel 10 family. This is weeks before Apple is widely anticipated to launch its entry-level smartphone, the iPhone 17e.

For a start, the 6.3-inch Pixel 10a introduces a new bump-less design, with a camera that blends seamlessly into the back for a smooth, flat profile. It’s comfortable to hold, slides easily into pockets, and lies perfectly flat on any surface. Available in four colours of Lavender, Berry, Fog and Obsidian, the phone features a textured matte back and smooth satin metal frame for a clean, modern finish.

At the same time, Google said the Pixel 10a is most durable A-Series device yet – designed not just to last, but to be repaired more easily. The Pixel 10a features IP68 water and dust resistance, scratch and drop resistance, improved Gorilla Glass 7i, and 100% recycled aluminium frame.

Under the hood, the Pixel 10a is powered by Google’s Tensor G4 chip from last year, and 8GB of RAM. So, it will not be delivering as fast performance or as advanced AI capabilities compared to the flagship Pixel 10 series. Still, Google’s AI Assistant, Gemini, is deeply integrated into the smartphone. You can ask Gemini to find a top-rated restaurant in Google Maps, brainstorm ideas or just hands-free conversations with Gemini Live. Not to mention, the Pixel 10a comes with 7 years of OS and security updates.

Nevertheless, it will launch with Android 16, featuring the new Material 3 Expressive design language, updated wallpapers, refined app UI, and a modernised notification shade.

The Pixel 10a features a 48MP main camera and a 13MP ultra-wide lens, capturing detailed shots in low light and expansive group photos with ease. For the first time in an A-Series device, it packs Camera Coach that offers real-time suggestions to help you take better photos. It also features the usual Auto Best Take and Add Me photo features.

The Google Pixel 10a will come in two storage options of 128GB and 256GB with pricing starting at S$799. It will be available online and in-stores via the Google Store and retail partners, such as Shopee and Lazada, from 5 March 2026.
