This setup enables heavy on-device AI workloads, such as complex video editing, audio clean-up, and image enhancement, running smoothly with reduced latency without relying on external cloud resources.

To support these intensive creative workflows, the tablet comes configured with 32GB of LPDDR5X memory and 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD, giving creators plenty of room and speed to manage massive media libraries. Keeping everything cool and quiet is ASUS’s 0dB cooling technology, ensuring completely silent operation during lighter tasks and low noise levels under load.

For visual professionals, colour accuracy is everything. And the ProArt PZ14 features a gorgeous 14-inch 3K (2,800 x 1,800 pixels) ASUS Lumina Pro OLED touchscreen with a 16:10 aspect ratio. The panel delivers 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage, Delta E <1 colour accuracy, and is Pantone Validated. With a 144Hz variable refresh rate and a blistering 0.2 ms response time, motion-heavy work like animation and video scrubbing should be buttery smooth. It also reaches a peak HDR brightness of 1,000 nits and carries VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1000 certification. It comes with an anti-reflection coating that reduces glare by 65% , while its TÜV Rheinland-certified eye-care features cut down harmful blue light by 70% to prevent fatigue during marathon editing sessions.

Despite the heavy-duty specifications, the ProArt PZ14 is highly portable. It features a CNC-machined aluminium unibody chassis finished in an elegant, fingerprint-resistant Nano Black. The tablet itself is incredibly slim at just 9mm and tips the scales at a mere 0.79kg. Crucially for field photographers and videographers, it doesn’t sacrifice ruggedness for style. The tablet transforms into a full-fledged workstation via a suite of included modular accessories. As you might expect from a gaming handheld, there are two mini-joysticks – one on each side of the display – with the A/D/X/Y buttons on the right side and a D-pad on the left side of the display. There are also the bumpers and triggers on the top of the side grips as well as two paddle buttons at the rear of the handheld.

On top of the display, you will find the power/fingerprint sensor, microSD card slot and a 3.5mm audio jack beside the right bumper. Beside the left bumper, you find the volume control, one USB-C port and one Thunderbolt 4 port.

Overall, the ergonomics are superb with the button placement well thought out. The sides are more rounded with comfortable grips that allow you to game longer in comfort. Talking about gaming longer, the Ally X comes with a 80Wh battery that is rated to give you 2.7 hours of heavy gaming for triple-A titles or 14.5 hours of Netflix video playback.

Of course, the Ally X’s battery life depends on what kind of games at what resolution and brightness you are playing. During my tests, I found the battery level dropped by 25 per cent when playing Metro Exodus at 1080p 75% brightness and 27W for around an hour.

The device does get a bit warm during extended play, something not unexpected but you probably have to be mindful about. On the upside, the internal cooling fans are never too loud, so your fellow passengers on MRT will never know you are slaughtering some virtual beasts.

Gameplay wise, the Ally X is excellent for many games. Without the device plugged to power and using around 27W, I was able to play Metro Exodus at up to 120 frames per second (fps), Cyberpunk 2077 at around 60fps and Diablo IV at 35fps. Even with Cyperpunk 2077, the movements are smooth with no visible screen tearing.

It is great that ASUS’ Armory Crate SD software supports a wide range of gaming platforms, including Steam, GOG Store, UbiConnect and Xbox Game Pass, making it easy to access a vast library of games.

The biggest issue though with Ally X is not about Ally X, but the software that it is running on. Something that is out of ASUS’ hands. While the Armory Crate is actually great in consolidating all games in one place, installing other non-game applications, moving windows around or even tapping “Yes” can be a chore as the user interface (UI) is just not meant for touchscreen.

Touchscreen really needs a separate UI, which is why Apple has iPadOS for its tablets. Windows’ UI is still pretty much a mouse-and-keyboard UI and until Microsoft created a handheld version of Windows, handheld gaming will always be hampered.

Pricing might be on an issue as well. While S$1,199 is not really expensive for the features and value that Ally X brings you, it still only serves one function – primarily gaming. A gaming laptop would at least allow you to do your work or studies on it.

VERDICT: The ASUS ROG Ally X is a superb Windows gaming handheld that caters to all the needs of any mobile PC gamer with its smooth performance, great ergonomics and decent battery life. Its greatest flaw is not even its fault, but that of Microsoft’s Windows not handheld friendly.

The ASUS TUF Gaming A14 (FA401) is a 14-inch ultraportable gaming laptop that is packed with an 12-core 24-thread AMD Ryzen 9 AI HX 370 processor, a built-in Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capable of 50 trillions of operations per second (TOPS) of AI performance and a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce RTX Laptop GPU.

It comes with 32GB of RAM, 1TB of solid state storage, 73Wh battery and white backlight keyboard. Plus, the TUF Gaming A14 weighs a mere 1.46kg and measures only 1.69cm thick.

On the other hand, those looking for a high-end gaming laptop with bigger display can check out the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 (GA605). According to its maker, this laptop is now a true AI PC due to its 12-core 24-thread AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor with built-in AMD Ryzen AI XDNA 2 NPU.

Combined with the output from the CPU and its integrated Radeon 890M graphics, this laptop delivers up to 81 TOPS AI performance. As such, the Zephyrus G16 allows to game early, as you can finish work quickly with productivity enhanced by AI-enabled app such as Windows’ powerful Copilot tools.

But its gaming performance is no slouch as it is powered by NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 or 4070 Laptop GPU. You can marvel at its fantastic graphics on the laptop’s 16-inch (2,560 x 1,600 pixels) 100% DCI-P3 display with 240Hz refresh rate and NVIDIA G-SYNC support.

The Zephyrus G16 comes with 32GB of RAM, 1TB of solid state storage, 90Wh battery and RGB backlight keyboard. Despite all its computing powers, it measures at most 1.74cm thick and tips the scales at only 1.85kg. It is also the first ROG laptop to support Wi-Fi 7, the fastest available Wi-Fi technology currently.

When the review unit rolled in, I was surprised by its massive box that you can probably use as a coffee table. However, it gives you everything you need for a mobile hardcore PC gamer.

Apart from the laptop, the package includes a ROG Ranger BP2701 gaming backpack, a ROG Delta wired gaming headset, a ROG Chakram Core P511 wired gaming mouse and a palm rest. Considering its jaw-dropping price tag of S$7,998, I actually thought there will be more gaming peripherals to be included.

Back to the laptop, the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 is a superbly built laptop that feels sturdy and robust. Not to mention, this laptop is always going to draw glances of envy each time you pull it out of your bag.

Tipping the scales at 2.55kg, it can be considered quite lightweight by gaming laptop standards. It looks sleek and stylish with its stealthy black lid with dotted patterns, a luminous line cutting across at 45 degrees with the “Republic of Gamers” tagline and a ROG logo on the other side. Furthermore, it has a matte finish that helps to reduce fingerprints and smudges.

At its sides and rear, there are air ventilation vents that will not look out of place in a sports car. On its left side, you can find the power point, a USB-A port, a Thunderbolt 4 port and a microSD card slot. There is another USB-A port, a HDMI 2.1 port and a Ethernet port at its rear, while there is a lone USB-C port on the right.

Lift the lid and you will be greeted with the two gorgeous displays. The main display can only tilted up to 50 degrees, while the secondary display is set up to 15 degrees.

The main display offers a refresh rate of up to 165Hz, which is great for gaming. But the secondary display only has a refresh rate of 60Hz. In any case, you probably using the main display to game, while using the secondary display for checking hints and walkthroughs.

Below the secondary display, you will find the RGB-backlit keyboard with a large touchpad on its right. The keyboard offers a great tactile typing experience with nice key travel. The touchpad is also very responsive. But due to the laptop’s lack of wrist rest, typing on the keyboard is a tad awkward as you need to rest your wrist on a table or on “air” if the laptop is at the edge of a table.

However, in terms of performance, the Zephyrus Duo 16 is capable of running any game at high settings as long as you use the power brick included. For instance, running Cyberpunk 2077 at Ray Tracing: Ultra setting clocks an average of 27.7 frames per second. You can see the intricate details on the surface of cars and as you walk through Night City, you can the realistic lighting effects in all its glory.

In the PCMark 10 benchmark test, this laptop scored an impressive 6,987, bettering the likes of 2022 Razer Blade 15 Advanced Model (score of 6,886) and Alienware x15’s (score of 6,711).

Most importantly, in the Digital Content Creation category, it scored a stunning 9,950. In other words, it can easily handle demanding tasks like video editing and 3D rendering tasks.

Gaming laptops are not renowned for their battery life and the Zephyrus Duo 16 is no exception. In our video-loop battery test whereby a HD video is looped only on the main display but with both displays at full brightness, it lasted only 4 hours 28 minutes. Not bad for a gaming laptop, but not good if you are gaming on the go.

VERDICT: Apart from its astronomical price tag and mediocre battery life, the ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 GX650 is an impressive gaming laptop with dual screens and superb performance. It is a dream laptop for hardcore gamers to play games on the go. But probably a fantastic overkill for many others.

This laptop features two touchscreen displays for your productivity needs. The main one is a 14.5-inch (2,880 x 1,800 pixels) touchscreen OLED display, while the secondary display is a 12.7-inch (2,880 x 864 pixels) ScreenPad Plus.

On the outside, the ZenBook Pro 14 Duo OLED looks no different from last year’s ZenBook Duo 14. You still get the concentric circles on the lid emanating from the logo. Only this time, it is not an Asus logo but the new ZenBook logo.

When you open the lid, you will find the secondary screen – ScreenPad Plus – tilting above the laptop’s keyboard. Unlike its predecessor in which the ScreenPad Plus only tilts at 7 degrees, this iteration can tilt at 12 degrees.

This increase in the tilting angle allows the two displays to look more like one. As such, you can be more natural in your sitting position to look at the “entire” screen. Also, the higher tilting angle is supposed to help in its cooling performance by allow more air to pass through.

The ScreenPad Plus comes with its own software sited on its left side as a vertical row of controls. This row of controls lets you change its brightness, lock and unlock the keyboard or open the App Launcher. The App Launcher lets you open apps, such as number pad or Spotify, on the ScreenPad Plus.

You can put two apps nicely side by side on the ScreenPad Plus or flick one app from the main display down to the ScreenPad Plus and vice versa. Or you can open a browser on the ScreenPad Plus to look at walkthrough while playing a role-playing game on the main display.

Not to mention, both displays have a refresh rate of up to 120H and supports 100% of the DCI-P3 colour space. Both displays are sharp and gorgeous to look at.

On the downside, the secondary display causes the keyboard to be really cramped. The trackpad is also really small, being tugged on the right corner. As a result, there are no space of wrist rests.

While you can use the ScreenPad Plus as a giant trackpad, it seems like a pity to use such a big screen estate for that purpose. I recommend a mouse instead.

On the other hand, the laptop have all the ports you need for peripherals. On its left side, there is a 3.5mm audio jack. On the right, there is a one USB-A port and two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports that support power delivery. At its rear, you will find the power port, a HDMI 2.1 port and a microSD card reader.

Despite having all these ports, the laptop is only 1.96cm at its thickest and weighs a mere 1.75kg. Compact and lightweight for a dual-screen laptop.

Powered by the latest 12th-generation Intel Core i7 processor, this laptop is obviously no slouch. In the PCMark 10 benchmark tests, the laptop scored an impressive 6,765. This is almost on par with some gaming laptops like the Razer Blade 15 Advanced Model (2022) that scored 6,886 or the Alienware x15’s score of 6,711.

In real life scenarios, the ZenBook Duo 14 does all tasks quickly and responsively. You will have no issues opening multiple tabs on any browsers or feel any lag when editing your videos or photos.

For gaming, this laptop did surprisingly well, which is probably due to its dedicated Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU. For instance, in the graphics-intensive game Cyberpunk 2077, the frame rates can reach a decent 35 frames per second (fps) when the graphics is set to High. And the game plays really smoothly even when the secondary display houses a browser at the same time.

Perhaps the biggest downer of ZenBook Pro 14 Duo OLED is its battery life. In our video-loop battery test whereby a HD video is looped only on the main display but with both displays at full brightness, it lasted only 4 hours 45 minutes. Last year’s ZenBook Duo 14 lasted 3 hours more.

VERDICT: With a price tag of S$3,699, the Asus ZenBook Pro 14 Duo OLED is undoubtedly quite expensive. That said, you pay for what you get. It is a sleek and powerful dual-display laptop that you can take on the road.
