DJI has launched a new lightweight under-249g drone with the Mini 3 Pro. It comes with a new design, enhanced imaging system, improved obstacle sensors, better battery life and native vertical shooting.
Unlike the rather-flat horizontal design of its predecessors, you will find the arms and propellers of the Mini 3 Pro to be slightly slanted for better aerodynamics. In addition, this new design has forward and backward dual-vision sensors at the front of the drone for safer flights.
Not to mention, its complete gimbal redesign means you can easily do tilt-up shots and more importantly, vertical shooting. In this age of TikTok and Instagram videos where the video orientation is portrait by default, native vertical shooting is a major feature.
The Mini 3 Pro also features a new bigger 1/1.3-inch 24mm f/1.7 camera that is able to shoot 48-megapixel stills and 4K videos up to 60 frames per second (fps). Shooting 4K HDR videos will bring down the frame rate down to 30fps.
In addition, this drone is the first DJI Mini to feature Tri-Directional Obstacle Sensing technology that comprises forward, backward and downward visual sensors. These sensors enable Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems (APAS) 4.0, which automatically detects and finds a safer path around obstacles during flight. It is important to note that APAS 4.0 is not available when recording videos at certain resolutions and frame rates.
Apart from APAS 4.0, the drone also features the entire FocusTrack suite, which allows you to select a subject that the drone will automatically keep within the centre of the frame during flight.
Its battery life goes up to 34 minutes with an extended battery option to increase the flight time to 47 minutes. And being under 249g, you do not need to register this drone to fly in most countries.
The DJI Mini 3 Pro is available for S$1,099 (get it at Lazada and Shopee), which includes the DJI RC-N1 remote controller that has a smartphone mount. It is also available for S$1,349 that has the DJI RC Pro remote controller with built-in display.
