Gamers in other countries, like the US, might have already started playing on Nintendo’s latest console, Switch 2. But the console will only launch in Singapore next week on 26 June 2025.
The Switch 2 is priced locally at S$719 (console only) or S$769 (with the launch game Mario Kart World). Considering that the game itself costs S$119.90, I think it is a no-brainer to get the game bundle.

If you are still thinking about getting the console, you can now head down to Jewel Changi Airport B1 Atrium (just outside of Zara) to try out it out. There is a pop-up event happening from 20 June to 24 July 2025 (10am to 10pm – last entry at 9.30pm), where you get to try the console and play Mario Kart World’s knockout tour mode.
You will either race with your friend (if you bring one), a stranger (if you don’t mind) or a staff, to experience the fun and thrills of the game. You will be get to race twice. There was not much of a queue when I was there yesterday morning, but you get a cute Mario visor for free. I managed to get a quick race of Mario Kart World, and it feels fun enough to be the launch game of the console.
In addition, I got a quick hands-on with the Switch 2. It feels and looks like the original Switch but bigger obviously, since it now features a 7.9-inch LCD panel (up from 6.2-inch of the original).

Like the original, the Switch 2 has a kickstand but this version feels much more sturdy to use in tabletop mode. Not to mention, the Joy-Con controllers are easier to attach and detach from the display due to the magnetic connectivity (instead of the rail design of original). Anyway, I will do a full review once I get my hands on the console. Please stay tuned!

If you are happy after trying out the console and Mario Kart World, you can pre-order the Switch 2 on the spot and you will receive a free Nintendo tote bag (while stocks last) by “waving” the Mario visor.

Again, this Switch 2 pop-up event runs from 20 June to 24 July 2025, from 10am to 10pm (last entry at 9.30pm) at Jewel Changi Airport B1 Atrium. Head down now and you get the free Mario visor at least!
