Leica has officially expanded its SL-System lineup with the introduction of its most advanced full-frame camera to date: the Leica SL3-P. Ditching the iconic red dot for a minimalist, all-black stealth look, this powerhouse shooter arrives alongside two new SL lenses – the Summilux-SL 50mm f/1.4 ASPH and the APO-Macro-Elmarit-SL 100mm f/2.8.

Designed for both professional photographers and videographers, the SL3-P pairs Leica’s signature German craftsmanship with cutting-edge hybrid capabilities. It sports a solid, full-metal body with IP54 dust- and water-splash protection, making it rugged enough for demanding field environments. Visually, it stands out by blending in – featuring a clean design with blacked-out control elements and no red Leica logo.
Inside, SL3-P is packed with serious imaging tech:
- 44-Megapixel (MP) BSI Sensor: Delivers an impressive 14 stops of dynamic range and an ISO range spanning 50 to 200,000.
- 176MP Multishot Mode: For landscape or studio photographers needing extreme detail, the camera can shift its sensor to output massive 176-megapixel files.
- New Hybrid Autofocus System: Combines Phase Detection (PDAF), object detection (depth mapping), and contrast detection across 819 AF points for lightning-fast tracking.
- 40 frames per second (fps) Burst Shooting: Captures fast-moving action with full autofocus support.
For videographers, the SL3-P serves up massive upgrades. It supports 8.1K Open Gate (3:2) at up to 24p utilising the full sensor, as well as standard 8K at 30p and HDMI RAW output. For high-frame-rate capture, it handles 5.9K at 60fps and 4K slow-motion at 120fps.

The camera integrates Apple ProRes codec support (up to 5.8K) and introduces two new in-camera LUTs—Leica Pure and Leica Cine. Navigating between modes is made simple via a colour-coded user interface (red for photos, yellow for videos) that automatically rotates on the high-resolution tilting touchscreen.
Leica also gave a peek at two upcoming lenses arriving later this year:
- Summilux-SL 50mm f/1.4 ASPH: Claimed to be the world’s most compact autofocus lens of its focal length and speed. Weighing just 584g and measuring 75.5mm long, it features 11 aperture blades for creamy bokeh and an IP54-rated full-metal body.
- APO-Macro-Elmarit-SL 100mm f/2.8: A modern homage to the legendary 1987 R-system macro classic. It offers a 1:1 reproduction ratio, a 30cm close-focusing distance, and apochromatic correction for razor-sharp edge-to-edge performance.
The Leica SL3-P is available starting today, 25 June 2026, at Leica Stores, the Leica Online Store, and authorised dealers. The new lenses will follow at the end of 2026. Interestingly, Leica is also offering the SL3-P in three enticing kit deals, as you can see in the table below. If you have the moolah, it is well worth it!
