As expected, Apple has announced its next generation of software to power its devices. So, we have the iOS 16 for iPhone and here’s a quick rundown of the most important features of iOS 16.
All-new Lock Screen
- Widgets on Lock Screen that you can customise
- You can change the date and clock fonts of the Lock Screen
- You will be able to change wallpaper with a swipe on the Lock Screen itself
- You can also match Lock Screen wallpaper and widgets to the Focus mode you are using
- Notifications appear from the bottom of the Lock Screen, so you can still see your wallpaper
Messages
- You can edit the message after you send it (Twitter must be jealous)
- You can also unsend messages that you have sent
- Like Mail, you can mark any message as unread
Maps
- New map displays coming to 11 more countries including Saudi Arabia and New Zealand
- 3D view coming to more cities including Las Vegas, Sydney and London
- Adding multi-stop routing up with to 15 routes in advance
Safety Check
- Allows users to stop sharing location, resets privacy permissions and protects access to your messages
- Emergency reset access for all people and apps as well as manage who and what apps can access your information
CarPlay
- Next-generation CarPlay will work in different sizes of display and different displays in your car
- You can customise the instrument clusters with different colours, dials and layouts
